| What qualification will I earn? |
During your apprenticeship you will work most likely work towards a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ). This is a well recognised qualification that will help you in your career, however, depending upon the type of apprenticeship the qualification maybe the following; - Key Skills qualification e.g. working in teams, problem solving, communication and using new technology.
- A technical certificate such as a BTEC or City and Guilds.
- Other qualification or requirement as specified by the particular occupation.

| What do I do when I’ve completed my apprenticeship? |

It is up to you what you do when you have finished your apprenticeship. There may be an opportunity to stay on at the same company you have been placed with or you may want to look for a new job. Alternatively, you may decide that you would like to gain more qualifications by staying on at college or applying for university.

| How long does an apprenticeship take to complete? |
|
The length of an Apprenticeship varies depending on prior skill levels of the apprentice and the qualification being obtained. Generally, Apprenticeships take between one and three years to complete however, there is no set time limit.

| How much will I earn? |
|
One of the great benefits about doing an apprenticeship is that you will be paid to do it. The minimum wage you will receive is £95 per week but this maybe more in some areas and can rise as you gain more skills. On average, apprentices earn over £100,000 more throughout their lifetime than other employees.

| How much does it cost to become an apprentice? |

| What can I do apprenticeship in? |
|
There are more than 190 different Apprenticeship frameworks, in over 80 sectors of industry and commerce.

| What is the role of the training provider? |
The training provider will usually be a local college or specialist training organisation where you receive off-the-job training. The provider will work with the North East Apprenticeship Company to ensure that your training is well planned and structured to meet your apprenticeship requirements.

| What is a host employer? |
|
The host employer is the company that the North East Apprenticeship Company has engaged with and has agreed to provide the work placement element of your apprenticeship. There may be more than one host company you are placed with through the course of your apprenticeship.
